The body of a surfer who starred in “Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides” was found with several shark bites. He was surfing off Goat Island, also known as Mokuauia, near Laie, Hawaii, before he was found dead at 1 p.m. Sunday, Honolulu Emergency Medical Services said. Tamayo was surfing during a break from his lifeguard duties.
Emergency services say the actor was bitten by a shark more than once. It warns residents to stay out of the water, with signs warning of sharks posted in the area. Acting Ocean Security Chief Kurt Lager released a statement saying:
Tamayo Perry was a beloved lifeguard, well known on the North Shore, and a professional surfer known around the world.
“Tamayo’s personality was contagious and although people loved him, he loved everyone even more. We express our condolences to Tamayo’s family and all his colleagues. We ask for privacy for his family at this time,” he added.
Tamayo appeared in one of the “Pirates of the Caribbean” parts, among others. in “Lost”, “Hawaii Five-0” and “Blue Crush”. He also took part in many advertising campaigns of large companies.
