This Thursday, at 10pm (Brasília time), in the second round of the Copa América, Uruguay will face Bolivia, at MetLife Stadium, in New York. Panama, looking for its first victory, on the same day, at 7 pm, plays against the United States, at the Mercedes-Benz Stadium, in Atlanta (Georgia).
Uruguay opened the scoring 16 minutes into the first half. Viña received it and passed it to Maximiliano Araújo, who, from outside the area, sent a rocket into the left corner of Mosquera, Panama’s goalkeeper.
The second Uruguayan goal came at the end, in the 39th minute of the second half. After a cross that was barely cleared by the Panama defense, the ball fell to Darwin Núñez, who, unmarked, shot low and hard with his left-hander. Mosquera was unable to make the save.
Celeste’s third goal came from a play made by a Flamengo duo, in the 46th minute, in stoppage time. Missing on the left of the attack, De La Cruz crosses into the area and Matías Viña rises higher than the opponent’s defense to test firmly in Mosquera’s right corner.
Panama took the chance when the lights went out in the 50th minute. Michael Murillo received a pass from Freddy Góndola and, from outside the area, hit a beautiful left-footed shot, placed in the right corner of Rochet, who remained static in the move.
