De Bruyne praises Belgium’s efficiency in victory against Romania

Belgium, who were defeated by Slovakia in their debut (1-0), recovered from their slump and beat Romania 2-0 this Saturday (22), a result that keeps the team alive in the fight for a place in the round of 16 from the Euro Cup.

Yuri Tielemans took just 73 seconds to open the scoring against the Romanians, but the ‘Red Devils’ had to hold off the pressure until Kevin de Bruyne calmed him down by scoring the second (80′).

“I have the same feeling as against Slovakia: we played well, but the difference is that today we scored and won,” said De Bruyne after the match.

Coach Domenico Tedesco’s team will face Ukraine in the third and final round of the group stage, amid doubts about the efficiency of their attackers, after countless chances wasted by Romelu Lukaku and Dodi Lukebakio.

That’s because the game couldn’t have started better for the Belgians: Jeremy Doku used his speed to reach the area and make a low pass to Lukaku, who had his back to the goal on the penalty spot. The Roma striker arranged for Tielemans to hit a cross and send the ball into the back of the net.
