Athletes from St. Petersburg will be paid 5 million rubles for winning the Olympic Games 2024

The authorities of St. Petersburg will pay 5 million rubles to athletes who represent the city and win at the Summer Olympic Games in Paris. Fontanka reports this with reference to the administration of the Northern capital.

A bonus of 2.5 million rubles is provided for winning a silver medal, and 1.5 million for a bronze medal. In addition, payments from 678 to 339 thousand are due to those athletes who take places from fourth to sixth at the Games.

Last December, the Russian Olympic Committee (ROC) spoke about financial support for athletes wishing to compete at the Olympics in Paris with a neutral status. “Among the athletes who will receive payments, there will be no athletes who accepted “neutralization.” ROC will not support athletes with a neutral status,” said the head of the organization, Stanislav Pozdnyakov.

Earlier, the International Olympic Committee (IOC) allowed Russians and Belarusians to participate in the Olympics in Paris. Athletes will be able to take part in the tournament only in a neutral status. At the same time, athletes who support a special operation in Ukraine and have connections with the armed forces or security agencies of Russia and Belarus will not get to Paris. Representatives of team sports will also miss the tournament.
