Serbia escaped defeat in the last minute in the match with Slovenia at Euro 2024
The Serbian national team played a draw with Slovenia in the match of the second round of the Euro 2024 group stage. This was reported by a Lenta.ru correspondent.
The meeting took place on Thursday, June 20, at the Allianz Arena stadium in Munich and ended with a score of 1:1. In the 69th minute, defender Jean Karnicnik gave the Slovenians the lead. The Serbs escaped defeat in the last minute of added time to the second half, when striker Luka Jovic saved his team after a corner kick.
Before the game, it became known that the Allianz Arena security staff did not allow fans with Russian flags inside. The ban was explained by the fact that fans were carrying flags of a country whose team was not participating in the match. As a result, the fans finally got into the stadium – having turned over their flags through another entrance, they were mistaken for Serbs.
Euro 2024 takes place in ten cities in Germany from June 14 to July 14. The Russian national team was unable to take part in the selection for the tournament due to sanctions from the Union of European Football Associations.
