Buffon said that the transfer to PSG would be a great experience for Safonov
Former goalkeeper of PSG and the Italian national team Gianluigi Buffon appreciated the transfer of Russian goalkeeper Matvey Safonov to the Parisian club. His words are quoted by Sport Express.
The Italian noted that the Russian’s career is now on the rise. “He will play in a great team, a great club and train with incredible players from whom he can learn some secrets to improve further,” Buffon said.
The ex-goalkeeper added that among Safonov’s teammates will be his direct competitor, Italian goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnaruma. “But I think if they establish a good relationship, it will be a great experience for them to work together,” Buffon said.
On June 14, PSG announced the transfer of the 25-year-old Russian goalkeeper. The contract runs until 2029. According to insiders, the transaction amount was 20 million euros.
