Chimaev dropped to 11th place in the UFC middleweight rankings after being withdrawn from the fight
Mixed style fighter (MMA) Khamzat Chimaev dropped in the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) rankings after being withdrawn from the fight against Australian Robert Whittaker. The updated rating is published on the organization’s website.
30-year-old Chimaev dropped from 10th to 11th place in the UFC middleweight rankings. The champion in this weight category is South Africa’s Dricus Du Plessis, the top 3 includes American Sean Strickland, New Zealander Israel Adesanya and Whittaker.
Earlier, UFC head Dana White commented on Chimaev’s withdrawal from the fight against Whittaker. According to White, the UFC does not know what exactly caused the fighter to refuse to participate in the fight. “Every time a fight gets close, it starts to hurt. And he is not in the USA for our doctors to examine him. He’s kind of out of reach, which complicates the situation,” said the UFC president.
Chimaev fought 13 fights according to MMA rules without suffering a single defeat. Previously, a native of Chechnya represented Sweden, and now competes under the flag of the United Arab Emirates. In the main fight of the UFC on ABC 6 tournament, which will take place in Saudi Arabia on June 22, he will be replaced by Russian Ikram Aliskerov.
