Germany forward injures fan with ball

German striker Füllkrug broke a fan’s arm with a ball during warm-up

Germany striker Niklas Füllkrug injured a fan with a ball. This was reported by Sky Sport Germany.

“I sang the anthem on a stretcher. I didn’t even know whether to laugh or cry. Unfortunately, I had to give up my dream of our team’s first match at the home Euro,” said injured German fan Kai Flatmann.

The incident occurred during the warm-up before Germany’s opening match in the Euro 2024 group stage against Scotland. The fan was sitting in the front row; the ball, after a strong hit from Füllkrug, hit his left hand and broke it.

The German team won the opening match of the group stage at the home Euro. The Germans defeated the Scots with a score of 5:1. For the first time in the history of the European Championships, two players under 22 years of age scored in one match for one team. Germans Jamal Musiala and Florian Wirtz are both 21 years old.
