Khvicha Kvaratskhelia: because of the position of my country, I could not stay at Rubin
Midfielder of the Italian Napoli and the Georgian national team Khvicha Kvaratskhelia spoke about the impossibility of staying in Russia in 2022. He is quoted by The Player’s Tribune.
“When the war started, I said I couldn’t stay here. Because of the position of my country and our history, I made it clear to Rubin that I had to leave,” said the Georgian footballer.
Kvaratskhelia played in Russia from 2019 to 2022. At first he played for Lokomotiv Moscow, with whom he won the Russian Cup and the silver medalist of the national championship. After this, the footballer signed a contract with Rubin Kazan.
Earlier, Kvaratskhelia recalled the difficult period of his life in Moscow. “It was hard for me. I lived in a training center. And it was a bit of a scary place! I am not kidding! It was in a deep forest, and you can’t go out there for a walk, because there were several dogs and the like,” the midfielder said.
