Belgium coach Tedesco says the team needs to improve its finishing
The head coach of the Belgian national team, Domenico Tedesco, explained the team’s sensational defeat from Slovakia in the first round match of the Euro 2024 group stage. His words are quoted on the website of the Union of European Football Associations (UEFA).
Tedesco noted that the team needs to improve its finishing. “I can’t say that our team needs to improve a lot. We created a lot of chances and if we had taken them, the game would have been much easier. The only thing we didn’t do well today was finishing. This is part of the game, but naturally the players are disappointed,” the coach said.
Earlier on June 17, the Belgians lost to the Slovaks in a Group E match with a score of 0:1. The only goal was scored by striker Ivan Shrants in the seventh minute of the match. At the same time, two goals of the Belgium national team were canceled after VAR intervention: in one case, Romelu Lukaku was offside, in the other, Lua Openda, who assisted him, played along with his hand.
Euro 2024 takes place in ten cities in Germany from June 14 to July 14. The Russian team misses the tournament due to UEFA suspension.
