Research shows clearly that multi-season productions attract audiences. Older seasons of TV series are always very popular, especially when new episodes are released. In the second half of 2023, the first three seasons of the series “Lupin” were watched almost 100 million times, while “CoComelon” recorded nearly 200 million.
Netflix summarized the last six months. The whole world watched the Polish film
“The Witcher” (76 million views), “Virgin River” (69 million), “The Crown” (50 million), “Słodkie Magnoliie” (35 million), “Top Boy” (26 million), “Heartstopper” (24 million), “Sintonia” (20 million) and “Sweet Home” (17 million). Older Netflix hits such as “Wednesday” (98 million views), “Czerwona Nota” (62 million) and “Squid Game” (25 million) also attracted large audiences. New adaptations encourage subscribers to reach for older versions of titles. This was the case with “One Piece” in the animated version.
The statistics of non-English-language productions are also very interesting. It turns out that movies and series from this category are very popular and account for almost 1/3 of the total viewing time on Netflix. Between July and December 2023, the German production “Beloved Child” was particularly popular (53 million views), the second place was taken by the Polish “Witch Doctor” with 43 million, and “Conspiracy of Silence” (21 million) closed the podium.
International success of “Quack” on Netflix
The result of “Quack” is particularly pleasing here. The remake of the production beloved by Poles was the surprise of 2023. Skeptics predicted the title would fail due to the audience’s enormous attachment to the previous version. It quickly turned out that Netflix’s “The Quack” was appreciated by both domestic viewers, critics and those watching abroad.
