Romania and Ukraine faced each other this Monday morning, at the Allianz Arena, and made their debuts in the group stage of Euro 2024. With goals from Stanciu, Marin and Dragus, the Romanians won 3-0. In two of the goals, Real Madrid goalkeeper Lunin missed the shot.
The result took Romania to three points, now occupying the lead in Group E. Ukraine, in turn, continues without any points won and appears in last place. Belgium and Slovakia, the other two teams that complete the group, will face each other this Monday, at 1 pm (BrasĂlia time).
Now, the Romanians return to the field next Saturday, at 4pm, when they will face Belgium at the RheinEnergieStadion. The Ukrainians will duel with Slovakia on Friday, at 10 am, at Merkur Spiel-Arena
The score was opened in the 28th minute of the first half. Romania’s attackers applied pressure and forced the ball to be made by goalkeeper Lunin, who ended up touching the foot of his opponent Dennis Man. He quickly rolled the ball to Nicolae Stanciu, who was very happy and hit a beautiful shot from outside the area.
Romania increased the score just seven minutes into the final stage. After being divided near the area, the ball fell cleanly to Razvan Marin, who arrived with a shot at the goal. The move featured a mistake by Lunin once again, who saw the ball go under his arms.
It didn’t take long for Romania to score the third. In the 11th minute, Stanciu took a short corner to Dennis Man, who invaded the area, dribbled past the marker and served Denis Dragus. Free from marking, the number 19 only had the job of pushing it into the back of the goal.
