Denmark dominates, but concedes a draw to Slovenia in their European Championship debut

This Sunday, Denmark and Slovenia drew 1-1 at the Stuttgart Arena, in the first round of the Eurocup group stage. Eriksen found the net for Denmark, while Erik Janza equalized for Slovenia.

With the result, Denmark took one point and took first place in Group C. Slovenia, with the same score, now occupies second place based on tiebreaker criteria. For the other match in the group, England and Serbia will also duel this Sunday, at 4pm (Brasília time), at Arena AufSchalke, and will define the group positions after this first round.

Denmark returns to the field next Thursday, at 1 pm, at the Frankfurt Arena, against England, in the second round of the group stage. On the same day, at 10 am, Slovenia plays against Serbia at the Munich Football Arena.

The score was opened by Denmark in the 17th minute of the opening stage. Hojlund received a throw-in inside the area and heeled it to Eriksen, who dominated with his chest and shot a cross into Oblak’s right corner.

Slovenia almost scored in the 3rd minute of the second half. Benjamin Sesko moved to his right leg, cut the marker inside the area and shot hard, high, but the ball hit the post.

In the 32nd minute of the second half, Slovenia scored the equalizer. After a corner kick, the ball was poorly cleared by the Danish defense and Erik Janza finished first, with his left leg, from the edge of the area. The ball deflected off Hjulmand and killed goalkeeper Schmeichel.
