Russian swimmer Yulia Efimova has received neutral status to participate in the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris. This was reported by RIA Novosti with reference to the Independent Body for Combating Negative Phenomena in Aquatic Sports (Aquatics Integrity Unit).
The Russian will be able to compete at the Games if she meets the qualification standard. She can do this until June 23 at international competitions.
Efimova spoke about possible participation in the Olympics on April 19. “Each person has his own choice. It’s not closed for me, because I haven’t swam according to the Olympic standard yet,” she said.
Efimova is a six-time world champion. She also has a bronze medal at the 2012 Olympic Games in London and two silver medals at the 2016 Games in Rio de Janeiro.
