Gymnast Melnikova refused to compare the results of the BRICS Games and the Olympic Games
Olympic champion in artistic gymnastics in the team all-around, Angelina Melnikova, shared her opinion about the BRICS Games and the Olympic Games. Her words are reported by RIA Novosti.
Melnikova refused to compare the results of the two competitions. “Because refereeing is always completely different. The Olympic Games and domestic Russian competitions are different competitions,” she said.
Melnikova took third place in the individual all-around (55.550 points). However, according to the regulations of the BRICS Games, no more than two athletes from the same country can be prize-winners. Russians Leila Vasilyeva (56.450) and Anna Kalmykova (56.100) won gold and silver, so the bronze went to Belarusian Kira Magarevich (48.750).
The BRICS Games take place from June 12 to 23. A total of 387 sets of medals will be played in 27 sports.
