The IOC approved the change of sports citizenship for Russians Taradin and Valiev
The International Olympic Committee (IOC) has approved the change of sports citizenship for a number of athletes for the 2024 Games in Paris. This was announced by IOC Communications Director Mark Adams, quoted by RIA Novosti.
In total, 11 athletes changed countries. “Among them are Denis Taradin (sailing) from Russia to Cyprus, Chermen Valiev (wrestling) from Russia to Albania,” Adams said.
The IOC allowed Russians and Belarusians to participate in the 2024 Games as individual neutral athletes. At the same time, athletes who support a special operation in Ukraine, as well as those who have connections with the armed forces or security agencies of Russia and Belarus, will not get to Paris. In addition, representatives of team sports will miss the tournament.
The 2024 Olympic Games will be held in Paris from July 26 to August 11, 2024.
