The prize fund for Wimbledon in 2024 will be a record £50 million. This was announced by the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club (AELTC), Deborah Jevans, as reported by RIA Novosti.
Jevans noted that the total prize fund had increased by 11.5 percent (£5.3 million) compared to 2023. “The champions in men’s and women’s singles will receive 2.7 million, which is an increase of 350 thousand, or 14.5 percent compared to last year,” she said.
Wimbledon will take place from July 1 to 14. The current champions of the tournament are Spaniard Carlos Alcaraz and Czech Marketa Vondrousova.
Earlier it became known that Spanish tennis player Rafael Nadal will miss Wimbledon 2024. The former world number one will focus on preparing for the Olympic Games in Paris, which start on July 26.
