Spanish prosecutors ask for 5 years in prison for Ancelotti for tax fraud
Spanish prosecutors have requested a five-year prison sentence for Real Madrid head coach Carlo Ancelotti for tax fraud. El Mundo reports this.
According to investigators, Ancelotti hid income from image rights through offshore companies. The prosecutor’s office believes that the coach committed tax fraud amounting to more than a million euros (386 thousand euros in 2014 and 675 thousand euros in 2015). For the first crime, law enforcement requires two years in prison, for the second – three.
It was initially reported that Ancelotti faces four years and nine months in prison. However, after a review of the case, the period was increased to five years.
Ancelotti has been in charge of Real Madrid since 2021. He also worked with the team from 2013 to 2015. Together with the Madrid team, the coach became the champion of Spain twice, the winner of the country’s Cup and Super Cup, and also won the Champions League three times.
