Bidasoa-Irun requests a place to play in the Champions League

He Bidasoa-Irunrunner-up of the Asobal Leaguehas requested a place to compete in the next edition of the Champions League which FC Barcelona was awarded last Sunday and is among the twelve teams that will compete for one of the seven spots left to be awarded for the top continental tournament.
The club, through a statement, has reported that its claim will be evaluated on June 19 and On the 21st the EHF Executive Committee will officially confirm the list of clubs that complete the two tables of the next edition of the Champions League with 16 teams.
“For the club and the city it is a pride to be among the candidates along with great clubs in Europe, which confirms the good work that has been done in recent years,” the Bidasota entity expressed in its note.
Bidasoa-Irun already participated in the Handball Champions in the 2019/20 season in which, with a different format, they surpassed the group stage to lose in the eliminatory match against the Poles from Wisla Plock.
Last season they did not play continental competition but they did two years ago, where they lost in the round of 16 against Sporting Lisbon.
