The decision comes almost two weeks after Dortmund were defeated by Real Madrid in the Champions League final, played at Wembley Stadium. In the statement released by the German team, the coach said goodbye and explained the reason for leaving.
“Although it is hurting me a lot at the moment, I would like to inform you that I will be leaving BVB. It was a great honor to be able to lead this great club to victory in the DFB Cup and, more recently, to the Champions League final,” he said.
“I asked those responsible for a conversation after our final at Wembley because after nine years at BVB, including six years on the coaching team and two and a half years as head coach, I have the feeling that the next start must be accompanied by a new man on the sidelines. I always wish Borussia Dortmund the best and say thank you and goodbye”, he added.
At 41 years old, the only club Edin Terzic managed in his career was Borussia Dortmund. Previously, he held the position of interim coach, but later ended up being hired.
