Navka said that participation in her ice show is safe for the suspended Valieva
Olympic champion in ice dancing Tatyana Navka assessed the safety of participation in her ice show “Ruslan and Lyudmila” for Russian figure skater Kamila Valieva, who was disqualified for doping. Her words are quoted by TASS.
According to her, there are no risks in the athlete’s performance in the show. “We comply with all World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) and Russian rules. She has a staff of lawyers working with her on her team who deal with all issues related to her speech,” Navka said.
On June 4, it became known that Valieva would take part in Navka’s show on July 22. This will be her first time on the ice since her suspension.
On January 29, CAS suspended Valieva for four years for violating anti-doping rules. Traces of the banned drug trimetazidine were found in the skater’s sample from December 2021.
The period of disqualification starts from December 25, 2021. All the athlete’s results from this date have been cancelled. In particular, Valieva was deprived of gold for winning the team tournament at the 2022 Olympic Games in Beijing as part of the Russian team.
