Former Italian defender Alessandro Nesta will coach Monza next season, the Berlusconi family club announced on Wednesday.
Nesta, 48 years old, arrives to replace Raffaele Palladino, who led the team to 12th place in the Italian Championship.
“From July 1, 2024, Alessandro Nesta will be the team’s new coach, with a one-year contract and automatic renewal for another year if the defined objectives are achieved,” Monza said in a statement.

At the Lombard club, Nesta will have as vice-president and general director Adriano Galliani, one of Milan’s emblematic directors during the period in which Silvio Berlusconi was president.
As a player, Nesta arrived at Milan in 2002 after nine years at Lazio. With the club, he twice won the Italian Championship (2004 and 2011) and the Champions League (2003 and 2007).
The former defender of the Italian national team (78 games) was also world champion in 2006. He began his career as a coach in the United States, at Miami FC, in the Second Division of the North American league.
Afterwards, he managed Perugia (Italian Second Division) between 2018 and 2019 and two other clubs in the same category, Frosinone (2019-2021) and Reggiana (2023-2024).
