Marco Baroni is Lazio’s new coach. He replaces Croatian Igor Tudor, who terminated his contract last week after just three months in charge, the club announced on Tuesday.
Baroni has been at Hellas Verona since June last year. Previously, he led Lecce for two seasons. The 60-year-old former defender spent most of his career as a coach in charge of teams in the Italian Second Division, with little experience in Serie A.
In the just-ended season, Marco Baroni led Verona to 13th place in the Italian Championship.

Under the command of Tudor, who arrived at the club in March to replace Maurizio Sarri, Lazio finished Serie A in seventh place, but the Croatian coach did not agree with the hiring policy and his relationship with the board was not good.
Baroni’s arrival at Lazio represents yet another change of coaches in this pre-season of Italian football. Of the 20 clubs in the First Division, 11 have already changed or may change command in the coming days.
Napoli have hired former Italy coach Antonio Conte, while Juventus and Milan are close to announcing Thiago Motta (ex-Bologna) and Paulo Fonseca (ex-Lille), respectively.
