Midfielder Toni Kroos, current winner of the Champions League with Real Madrid, spoke this Tuesday at a press conference about the Eurocup dispute with the German team and expressed confidence in a possible title. This will be the last tournament played by the 34-year-old athlete, who announced his retirement after the end of the competition.
“Of course I’m hungry. That went hand in hand with the decision to come back here. Because I want to be successful and win this tournament. If I didn’t think it was possible, I wouldn’t have done it. End my career with the League title of the Champions League and the European Championship would be almost tacky, of course, but I would accept it.”
Previously, Kroos had already left the national team, after being eliminated by England in the round of 16 of the Euro Cup, in 2021. The player was even left out of the 2022 World Cup. However, he reversed his decision to compete in the European tournament this year.

The midfielder also praised the strength of the German team and assured that the team has room for improvement.
“Our job must be to play well. We must minimize the moments in which we still have problems. We have many good moments during games and we can still improve. I know the potential we have in the team. We can beat any rival.”
Germany, the host country of the competition, debuts at Euro-2024 this Friday, at 4pm (Brasília time), against Scotland, at the Allianz Arena, in Munich. Kroos also analyzed the confrontation.
“It would be important to play the opening game in a positive way. We know what kind of rival we are facing. Scotland could be a very uncomfortable team. I have also been talking to my teammates at Real Madrid, who lost to Scotland with Spain. So we are more than prepared. We know it will be a very difficult game”, he said.
