German police predicted a Serb attack on the British at Euro 2024
German police predicted an attack by about 500 Serbian fans on the English before the first match between Serbia and England in the group stage of Euro 2024. The Guardian writes about this.
“The biggest challenge for us will be separating violent groups from peaceful and law-abiding fans,” said Gelsenkirchen police chief Peter Both.
Gelsenkirchen police intend to prevent unrest and intercept aggressive Serbian fans before they meet the British. More than a thousand German police and special forces will be on duty at the Serbia vs England match, which will take place on June 16.
In January 2024, Serbian fans hung a banner in support of the residents of Belgorod at a Euroleague basketball match. “Belgorod, we are with you,” was the inscription on the stands against the backdrop of attacks on the Russian city by the Ukrainian Armed Forces.
