Olympic champion Masterkova was hospitalized with a suspected stroke
Olympic champion in athletics Svetlana Masterkova was hospitalized in Moscow with a suspected stroke. TASS reports this.
Member of the executive committee of the All-Russian Athletics Federation (ARAF) Irina Privalova confirmed that the former athlete was hospitalized. “It’s okay, she’s being discharged tomorrow. There was a suspicion of a stroke, but everything is fine,” she said.
Earlier, the Mash Telegram channel reported that Masterkova was hospitalized in a condition of moderate severity. It was noted that she had to undergo an examination in the neurosurgical department because of a tumor in her head.
Masterkova is a two-time Olympic champion in 1996 at distances of 800 and 1500 meters. She also has gold medals at the 1999 World Championships and the 1998 European Championships at a distance of 1500 meters.
