CAS will hold hearings on Russian appeals in Valieva’s case on June 12
USA Today journalist Christine Brennan announced the date of the hearing at the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) on appeals in the doping case of Russian figure skater Kamila Valieva. She reported this on her social network page X.
The hearing will take place on June 12. On this day, three appeals from the Russian side will be considered demanding the return of the gold of the team tournament of the 2022 Games – from the Russian Olympic Committee, the Russian Figure Skating Federation and figure skaters Kamila Valieva, Mark Kondratyuk, Anastasia Mishina and Alexander Gallyamov, Victoria Sinitsina and Nikita Katsalapov. The date for another appeal – from Canada, demanding that they be awarded bronze – will be announced later.

On January 30, the team tournament medals were redistributed due to Valieva’s disqualification and cancellation of results. The Russian team moved from first to third place, gold went to the USA, silver to Japan. The Americans and Japanese are planning to be awarded medals at the 2024 Summer Games.
On January 29, Valieva was disqualified for four years for violating anti-doping rules. The period of suspension starts from the moment the sample is taken – December 25, 2021. The fact that traces of the banned drug trimetazidine were found in it became known after the end of the team tournament at the Beijing Games.
