La Liga announced this Monday that three Valencia fans were sentenced to eight months in prison for committing racism against Real Madrid striker Vinicius Júnior. Through your account on X (old Twitter), the Brazilian celebrated the punishment and preached that he will continue the fight against racists.
“Many asked me to ignore it, many others said that my fight was in vain and that I should just ‘play football’. But, as I have always said, I am not a victim of racism. I am a victim of racists. This first criminal conviction of The history of Spain is not for me. It is for all black people”, he wrote.
“May other racists be afraid, ashamed and hide in the shadows. Otherwise, I will be here to demand it. Thank you to La Liga and Real Madrid for helping with this historic conviction. More to come…”, he added.

In addition to being imprisoned for eight months, the three Valencia fans will have to pay fines and are banned from entering any football stadium where La Liga or Spanish national team games are played.
The crime was committed just over a year ago, on May 21, 2023, during a match between Valencia and Real Madrid, at the Mestalla Stadium. Vini Jr. has also been offended and threatened by fans of other clubs in Spain, such as Barcelona, Atlético de Madrid and Sevilla.
With the end of the European season, Vinicius Júnior is serving the Brazilian team for the Copa América. The competition takes place in the United States, between June 20th and July 14th.
