Real Madrid opposes Ancelotti and guarantees participation in the new Club World Cup

Real Madrid confirmed this Monday that it will participate in the new Club World Cup in 2025. The team went against the statements of its coach, Carlo Ancelotti, who stated that the Merengue team would not compete in the competition.

“Real Madrid CF informs that at no time has its participation in the new Club World Cup that FIFA will organize in the next 2024/2025 season been questioned. Therefore, our club will compete, as planned, in this official competition that we face with pride and with the greatest enthusiasm to make our millions of fans around the world dream again of a new title”, said the Spanish club in an official statement.

Before Real Madrid’s official statement, Ancelotti reported that the team would not play in the competition for financial reasons.

“A single Real Madrid match is worth 20 million euros (R$115 million) and FIFA wants to pay this amount for the entire tournament. Just like us, other clubs will refuse the invitation,” he told the Italian newspaper The newspaper. “FIFA can forget us. The players and clubs will not participate in this tournament”, he added.

Ancelotti clarifies the situation

After the official note from the merengue club, the Italian coach went back, clarified the situation on his social networks and confirmed his participation in the tournament. The coach also claimed that his words about the World Cup were not interpreted in the way he expected.

“In my interview with Il Giornale, my words about the FIFA Club World Cup were not interpreted in the way I intended. Nothing could be further from my interests than rejecting the possibility of playing in a tournament that I consider a great opportunity to continue fighting for big titles with Real Madrid.”
