Despite having a guaranteed place in the new Club World Cup in 2025, Real Madrid will not participate in the tournament. Carlo Ancelotti, coach of the Spanish club, claimed that the reason was financial.
“A single Real Madrid match is worth 20 million euros (R$115 million) and FIFA wants to pay this amount for the entire tournament. Just like us, other clubs will refuse the invitation,” he told the Italian newspaper The newspaper.
“FIFA can forget us. The players and clubs will not participate in this tournament”, he added.
