Uzbek gymnast Oksana Chusovitina, who competed for the USSR national team, announced her desire to participate in the 2028 Olympic Games in Los Angeles, America. She announced this on Instagram (social network banned in Russia; belongs to the Meta company, recognized as an extremist organization and banned in the Russian Federation).
The 48-year-old athlete said that she would try to qualify for the competition.
In May, Chusovitina said that she would not be able to continue the fight for a ticket to the 2024 Olympics in Paris. At the qualifying competitions for the Games in Tashkent, she was injured on floor exercises.

At the 1992 Olympics in Barcelona, the athlete as part of the Unified Team won a gold medal in the team competition. At the 2008 Games in Beijing, Chusovitina, representing Germany, became a silver medalist in the vault.
