Former head coach of CSKA and the Russian national team Valery Gazzaev was indignant at the recognition of Dynamo coach Marcel Licka as the best in the Russian Premier League (RPL) at the end of last season. His words are quoted by “Championship”.
In his opinion, Sergei Semak, who won all the tournaments with Zenit, deserves this title. “How can you make mistakes like Dynamo made? They had the best situation to become the champion,” Gazzaev said.

Lichka received the award for the best coach of the season in the RPL on May 26. In addition to him, Rostov coach Valery Karpin, as well as Vladimir Ilic, who worked with Krasnodar, were also nominated for the award.
Voting took place in three stages. Initially, the nominees were determined by journalists, then by fans. The decisive votes were cast by the captains and head coaches of the RPL teams, the league president and tournament legends.
