The singer recorded songs with lyrics based on poems by famous Polish poets. “Sahan sings poezyje” includes the song “Nic dwazywa” with lyrics by Wisława Szymborska, “Warszawa” with lyrics by Tuwim and “Bajkê” enriched with a poem by Baczyński. The album opens with “Developing Rilke” with lyrics by Jacek Cygan.
Cygan is a top Polish lyricist who wrote words to approximately 1,600 songs. The creator wrote, among others, “To nie ja” for Edyta Górniak, who also won second place at Eurovision in 1994 thanks to the song. His words were sung by the most popular Polish artists such as Anna Jurksztowicz, Edyta Geppert, Majka Jeżowska, Seweryn Krajewski, Andrzej Zaucha, Stanisław Sojka, Mietek Szcześniak, Zdzisława Sośnicka, Halina Frąckowiak, Lady Pank, Kombi, Ryszard Rynkowski and many others.
“I didn’t know anything”
Sanah also decided to draw from Cygan’s artistic achievements, but she did not contact the lyricist about it. The creator was a guest of Anna Jurksztowicz’s “Legendy Showbiznesu” podcast, where he spoke honestly about the situation.
– It must be said that it happened without my participation. Not that some cronyism or some agent was arranging something. I didn’t know anything. Sanah simply bought this book in Gdańsk and chose this poem. She composed the music and recorded it, said Cygan calmly.
However, the author of the words to “Developing Rilke” did not blame the young artist for not informing him about her stains. – Then she invited us to a concert with her wife and we are in very good contacts – he emphasized. The creator has no intention of drawing consequences from the situation.
