Karpin assessed the need to tighten the limit on foreign players in the RPL

Valery Karpin said that the limit on foreign players in the RPL does not need to be tightened

The head coach of Rostov and the Russian national football team, Valery Karpin, assessed the need to tighten the limit of foreign players in the Russian Premier League (RPL). He spoke in a conversation with the channel “This is football, brother!” on YouTube.

In his opinion, nothing needs to be changed. “If you have to bet five or six, then they will play because you are obliged to put them, and not because they are better. Let there be 20 competitive rather than 60 so-so,” the specialist noted.

Starting from the 2022/2023 season, the RPL has a limit according to which 13 foreigners can be included in the application for the season of one club. Eight foreign players can enter the field at the same time as part of one team.

Earlier, Karpin assessed the level of the Russian national team. “We had both successful games and not very successful ones,” the specialist spoke about the state of the team.
