Juventus announced this Monday that it has amicably terminated the contract with coach Massimiliano Allegri. He was fired on May 17, after the club analyzed that the coach’s stance in the Italian Cup final was not in line with the institution’s values.
“Juventus Football Club and Massimiliano Allegri announce that they have reached a mutual agreement on the termination of the sports performance contract at the end of the current season. The club, in thanking Massimiliano Allegri for the sporting results achieved over the years at the helm of the team, wishes him the best for his professional future”, says the official statement from Juventus.

In the Italian Cup final, against Atalanta, Allegri was sent off and argued harshly with the fourth referee as he left the field. Because he didn’t agree with the referee’s decision, the coach threw his own suit and tie on the floor.
Allegri had two spells at Juventus. One from 2014 to 2019 and another from 2021 to 2024. In total, there were 420 matches and 12 titles: five Italian Championships, two Italian Super Cups and five Italian Cups.
As Juventus still had two games to finish the season when they fired Allegri, interim Paolo Montero managed the team. The Italian club’s next coach has not yet been revealed.
