Juventus defender Federico Gatti was called up by the coach of the Italian national team, Luciano Spalletti, to join the 28 athletes who will compete in Euro 2024, after Francesco Acerbi and Giorgio Scalvini were absent due to injuries.
Gatti, 25, will travel this Monday afternoon (3) to the Coverciano facility, near Florence, where the ‘Azzurra’ are concentrated, the Italian Football Federation (FIGC) announced in a statement.
The defender was called up after the absence of Inter Milan defenders Francesco Acerbi, due to pubalgia, and Atalanta’s Giorgio Scalvini, who suffered a ruptured cruciate ligament in his left knee in the last game of the Italian Championship on Sunday (2).
