Chelsea announces coach Enzo Maresca as Pochettino’s replacement

Chelsea already have a replacement for Mauricio Pochettino, who was fired on May 21st. This Monday, the English club announced the hiring of coach Enzo Maresca.

In the note released by Chelsea, it was informed that Maresca will start his work on July 1st of this year. The contract between the parties is valid for five years, with the option of one more.

“Coming to Chelsea, one of the biggest clubs in the world, is a dream for any manager. That’s why I’m so excited about this opportunity. I look forward to working with a very talented group of players and staff to develop a team that continues to club’s tradition of success and make our fans proud,” he said.

At 44 years old, Enzo Maresca takes over Chelsea after having a great season at Leicester City. There, he was champion of the Second Division of England and guaranteed the team’s access to the Premier League.

Even earlier, the Italian was present on Pep Guardiola’s coaching staff when Manchester City won the triple crown, in 2022/2023, with the Champions League, English Championship and FA Cup trophies.

Laurence Stewart and Paul Winstanley, Chelsea’s co-sporting directors, were excited about the coach’s appointment.
