Italian Enzo Maresca has become the new head coach of Chelsea
Italian Enzo Maresca has become the new head coach of the English Premier League (EPL) club Chelsea. This was announced on the team’s website.
The 44-year-old specialist will take office on July 1, 2024. The contract with the coach is for five years with an option to extend for another year. “Joining Chelsea, one of the biggest clubs in the world, is every manager’s dream. That’s why I’m so excited about this opportunity,” Maresca commented on the appointment.
Maresca was replaced in this post by Mauricio Pochettino, whose contract was terminated on May 21 by mutual agreement of the parties. The Argentine has worked for Chelsea since May 2023. At the end of the season, the club took sixth place in the Premier League.
Maresca led another English club, Leicester City, in the 2023/2024 season. Previously, he also worked for Manchester City and West Ham, Italian Ascoli and Parma, and Spanish Sevilla.
