Otropedist-traumatologist Pavel Semichenkov made a choice between the number of repetitions and heavy weights when doing fitness. His words are quoted by Life.

According to the specialist, many people, when gaining muscle mass, prefer to do fewer sets and repetitions with heavier weights. “As a result, the technique of performing the exercise inevitably suffers. This is absolutely unacceptable, since such an approach can lead to disruption of the integrity of the joint and microtears of the ligaments. Therefore, working weight needs to be increased gradually and slowly,” the doctor said.

He also urged people with a diplastic body structure to be careful when working with heavy weights. “They are usually very flexible from birth, but their weak point is the joints, which do not have sufficient anatomical stabilization,” the doctor said.

Previously, fitness trainer Stanislav Pakhomov gave advice to people who want to start running. According to the specialist, inexperienced athletes should first limit themselves to walking, which will help the body adapt to simple physical activity.
