Yagudin urged to wait for the results of skaters who left for other teams

Olympic champion in figure skating Alexey Yagudin assessed the consequences of the transfer of Russian representatives of this sport to other teams. His words are quoted by TASS.

According to him, at this stage he sees no reason to say that figure skating in Russia has lost something. “When a person moves from one coach to another or changes citizenship, it is useless to comment on this until you see the result,” Yagudin said.

He also noted that a professional athlete has the right to decide his own destiny. “This is not a theater or a movie where you can act until your hair turns gray. The professional life of an athlete is very short,” said Yagudin.

In recent months, the Russian Figure Skating Federation (FFKKR) has allowed the single skater Sofya Samodelkina, the sports pair Ekaterina Geinisch – Dmitry Chigirev, and ice dancing skater Annabel Morozov to change their sports citizenship. They will move to the national teams of Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan and the USA, respectively.
