Ex-Santos, defender Eduardo Bauermann reached an agreement with Everton Viña del Mar, from Chile. The defender served a 360-day punishment and a fine of R$35,000 for his involvement in a match-fixing scheme in Brazilian football matches.
The complaint was based on evidence collected by the Public Ministry of Goiás in Operation Maximum Penalty II. Amid the investigations, Peixe chose to suspend the player’s contract.
Bauermann arrived at Santos at the beginning of 2022. With the black and white shirt, he played 78 matches and scored five goals.

The defender was even announced by Antalyaspor, from Türkiye. The player, however, had his contract terminated due to day-to-day problems.
At 28 years old, Bauermann is looking to resume his career after the controversy. In addition to Santos, he played for América-MG, Figueirense, Paraná, Náutico, Atlético-GO and Internacional.
Remember the Bauermann case:
In May 2023, images were released of an alleged conversation between Bauermann and a “results fixer” via messages. The player would have received 50 thousand reais for forcing and receiving a yellow card in a Santos match, against Avaí.
The defender, however, did not receive a yellow card and promised that he would be sent off in the next match, against Botafogo. He even received a red card, but only after the end of the game and enraged the participant of the “betting scheme”.
Bauermann was pressured to return the amount, which reached around R$800,000, and even considered passing on a percentage of his economic rights in a future negotiation to leave Santos.
On May 9 of that year, the Court accepted the MP-GO’s complaint against the game manipulation scheme. On June 1st, the STJD decreed a 12-game suspension for the defender — increased to 360 days, in addition to a fine of R$35,000, after a second trial on July 6th.
