American track and field athletes Lashinda Demus and Eric Kaynard will be presented with Olympic medals at the 2012 Games in London after the doping ban of Russians Natalya Antyukh and Ivan Ukhov. This was reported on the website of the International Olympic Committee (IOC).
Demus will take gold in the 400-meter hurdles, and Kaynard will take gold in the high jump. The awards will be presented at a ceremony at the Olympic Park in Paris on August 9.
In 2019, Ukhov was among 12 Russian athletes found guilty of using prohibited drugs. The jumper was disqualified for four years. Antyukh was suspended and stripped of her awards in 2022 based on data from the Moscow Anti-Doping Laboratory (LIMS).
Earlier it became known that Russian weightlifter Ruslan Albegov was stripped of his bronze medal at the 2012 Olympic Games in London in the category over 105 kilograms. The award will be given to South Korean Chung Sang-kyun.
