The 17-year-old Russian tennis player beat the former first racket at Roland Garros

Tennis player Andreeva defeated Azarenka and reached the third round of Roland Garros

Russian tennis player Mirra Andreeva defeated former world number one Belarusian Victoria Azarenka in the second round of Roland Garros. The results are available on the tournament website.

The meeting ended with a score of 6:3, 3:6, 7:5 in favor of the 17-year-old athlete. The tennis players spent 2 hours and 31 minutes on the court. Thus, Andreeva reached the third round of the tournament, in which she will play against American Peyton Stearns.

After the match, Andreeva, in an interview with Sports.ru, called the victory the most important in her career. “My character helped me win; it was a very strong-willed victory. What gave me strength was that I tried to stay calm – and it worked,” she said.

Previously, Andreeva was included in the long list of the ranking of the most promising Russians under 30 according to Forbes. The best result in the Russian’s career at the moment is reaching the fourth round of the Australian Open 2024.
