Éder Militão came up through São Paulo’s youth categories, transferred to Porto and, in just one season in Portugal, stood out and was hired by Real Madrid in 2019. He recalled his beginnings in professional football and, despite the rapid rise in his career, revealed that it was not easy to adapt to the Spanish club.
“I arrived at Porto from São Paulo when I was only 20 years old. I was a young man who had never left home. I had a good season and, when it ended, I immediately moved to Real Madrid. Never in my wildest dreams had I imagined that this could happen to me. It was something really incredible”, he said in an interview with And she was.
“At first the adaptation was not easy. The club had paid a lot of money for me and I felt the responsibility of having to justify the 50 million euros [R$ 215 milhões à época] that it had cost. My colleagues at Real did everything they could to make things easier for me. With a lot of work and knowing how to make the most of opportunities, I managed, thank God, to join the team and remain, in these five years, as a member of the best team in the world”, he added.

The 26-year-old Brazilian defender has already played more than 150 games for Real Madrid. Due to a ruptured anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee, he was absent from the team for a large part of this season.
With the merengue shirt, Militão won 10 titles: a Champions League, a Club World Cup, a European Super Cup, three Spanish Championships, a Copa del Rey and three Spanish Super Cups.
Militão will have the opportunity to win another title with Real Madrid next Saturday. The Spanish team will face Borussia Dortmund at Wembley Stadium, in a game valid for the grand final of the Champions League.
