Former player Alex was welcomed by a crowd of fans upon landing in Antalya, in southern Turkey. He signed with Antalyaspor and will lead the Turkish team next season.
Alex received an Antalyaspor scarf and celebrated with the fans present. In a few words, the Brazilian thanked him for the affection.
“I just want to thank you for the welcome, I’m so happy to be in Türkiye once again,” he said.
Even as a player, Alex made history in Turkish football. In eight seasons with Fenerbahce, he won six titles, three Turkish Championships, two Super Cups and one Turkish Cup.
In addition to Fenerbahce, the Brazilian had spells at Palmeiras, Coritiba, Cruzeiro, Flamengo and Parma, in Italy.
In his short career as a coach, the 46-year-old captain managed São Paulo’s under-20 team, between 2021 and 2022, and Avaí, in 2023. This will be Alex’s first experience in technical command of a club outside Brazil .
