Samuel Eto’o discusses with Cameroon’s new coach, Marc Bry

The president of the Cameroonian Football Federation (Fecafoot), Samuel Eto’o, discussed with the national team coach, Marc Brys, who took office on orders from the African country’s head of state against the wishes of the former Barcelona striker.

The Belgian coach was appointed on April 2 by the Minister of Sports, under the “very high directives of the President of the Republic”, Paul Biya.

His appointment was branded “illegal” by Fecafoot, the only body authorized, according to it, to appoint the national team’s coach.

In a video recorded this Tuesday, the authenticity of which was confirmed to AFP by a Fecafoot director, Eto’o vehemently addresses Brys.

The former Barça, Inter Milan and Chelsea player expelled a representative from the Ministry of Sports from the room and welcomes Brys with “Welcome to your home!”.

But the coach, ordered by the Ministry representative to leave the meeting with him, comes face to face with Eto’o, who says visibly irritated that “either stay, or leave.”

Brys puts his hand on Eto’o’s arm and the tone of the argument increases.

“Don’t touch me!” says the former striker. “I am the president!”

“I’m the coach,” Brys responds.

“No! You’re the coach because someone else appointed you”, Eto’o retorts. “You didn’t accomplish many things!”

“Don’t talk to me like that, you’re going to sit down and we’re going to work, what a disaster this is!”, shouted Eto’o at one point.

Brys finally leaves the room. “If you go through the door, don’t come back,” says Eto’o.

In a statement, Fecafoot states that Brys, “before leaving the room, hurled insults and insults at Eto’o”, which was not recorded in the video.

The Federation announced a meeting of its emergency committee as soon as possible to “take the necessary decisions” and listed a series of failures of which the Belgian coach is accused.

The Cameroon national team is preparing to face Cape Verde (June 8) and Angola (June 11) in the African qualifiers for the 2026 World Cup.
