Figure skater Elizaveta Tuktamysheva said that she considers herself Russian
World and European figure skating champion Elizaveta Tuktamysheva named her nationality in an interview on the “Just Such Genetics” YouTube channel.
The athlete noted that she considers herself Russian. “We didn’t have much discussion about who my ancestors were. I understood that we live in Udmurtia, and my dad lived in Glazov for several generations,” said the figure skater.
Tuktamysheva added that her aunt on her father’s side was studying the question of the possible origin of their family from the Khan of the Golden Horde, Tokhtamysh. “I haven’t seen any evidence that my last name comes from Khan Tokhtamysh, but that would be cool,” the figure skater said.
Tuktamysheva missed the 2023/2024 season. She explained this by saying that she wants to spend more time with loved ones, develop, get enough sleep, relax and work on personal projects.
