Tarasova on Titova’s move to Armenia: I don’t think it’s a loss for Russia
Honored Coach of the USSR Tatyana Tarasova appreciated the transition of Russian figure skater Sofia Titova to the Armenian national team. Her words are quoted by RIA Novosti.
“I don’t think this is a loss for Russian figure skating,” Tarasova commented on the athlete’s decision in one phrase.
Earlier on May 28, it became known that the 15-year-old student of two-time Olympic champion Evgeni Plushenko would change her sports citizenship. The Armenian Figure Skating Federation confirmed that Titova received an exemption from the Russian Figure Skating Federation (FFKKR).
Russian figure skaters were banned from competing in tournaments under the auspices of the International Skating Union (ISU) in March 2022. The last major start for domestic athletes was the 2022 Olympic Games in Beijing.
