Mamedov: the conditions for admission of Russians to the 2024 Games are similar to racial segregation in the USA

President of the Russian Fencing Federation (RFF) Ilgar Mamedov stated that the conditions for admission of Russians to the 2024 Olympic Games are similar to racial segregation in the United States. His words are quoted by TASS.

Mamedov recalled that French President Emmanuel Macron called Russia an enemy, and Paris Mayor Anne Hidalgo said that she would not be happy with neutral Russian athletes. “Like before in the United States there were signs that said: ‘Only whites are allowed in. Negroes and dogs are not allowed in,’” he compared.

According to Mamedov, only those Russian athletes who have a chance to win medals should go to the Games. “I can’t understand those who go there with no chance at all. Why strive there in such inhuman conditions for us? Just go and hang out in the Olympic Village area without really seeing Paris?” – noted the head of the FFR.

The Paris Olympics will take place from July 26 to August 11. Russians and Belarusians, if a number of conditions are met, will be able to compete in the individual competitions of the tournament in a neutral status. However, they will not be allowed to participate in the parade of delegations at the opening ceremony of the Games.
