Ronaldo celebrates Real Valladolid’s access to the Spanish First Division

Real Valladolid gained access to the First Division of the Spanish Championship, last Sunday. Former player Ronaldo, majority owner of the club, celebrated the team’s return to the national elite through his social networks, this Monday.

“We did it, fans. We are from the First! I am very proud to see how the work of the whole year was rewarded yesterday. This promotion belongs to EVERYONE, fans, staff, coaching staff, players. You all managed to return Pucela to its rightful place. Now it’s time to celebrate and enjoy,” he wrote.

This was the second time that Real Valladolid rose to the First Division of the Spanish Championship since Ronaldo bought the club in 2018. The first opportunity came in the 2021/2022 season, after falling in the previous year.

Last Sunday, Real Valladolid beat Villareal B, 3-2, and reached 72 points. Leader of the competition, the club can no longer be caught by third-placed Eibar, who have 68 goals, thus guaranteeing promotion one round in advance.

The regulations of the Spanish Second Division provide that the first two places guarantee a direct place in the elite, while the teams that finish between third and sixth positions compete for a playoff access to each other.

Valladolid returns to the field next Sunday, at 1:30 pm (Brasília time), and could be champion of the Spanish Second Division against Tenerife, away from home. Leganés, second-place, has just one point less than Ronaldo’s team and faces Elche, on the same day and time.
